Site Inspection
It is essential to carry out a site inspection to identify any environmental issues that have not been previously documented. This should be undertaken in a systematic way to ensure that nothing is missed. Areas will need to include :
- Site boundaries;
- Drainage outlets;
- Waste storage areas;
- Chemical storage areas;
- Process areas;
- Warehouses;
- Stormwater systems;
- Maintenance areas;
Interviews
Interviews are often conducted during the site inspection and assist with obtaining information not available in the documentation. Interviews also demonstrate how the organisation is managed in practice.
It may be appropriate for members of the review team to meet with the regulatory authorities to duscuss the facility and get their opinion on its environmental performance and status.
